Sylvester Bonebrake was my great-grandfather. He is my Bonebrake ancestor, and there is a book by Mary Rizek Bonebrake about the Bonebrake family that details our origins and immigration to America before the Revolutionary War. Sylvester Bonebrake served in World War 1, Company B, 1st Engineers, as a railroader. He was shell-shocked in the war and ended up living in a veterans’ home until he died in 1953.
